IEEE 1588 PTP Grandmaster Card – Product announcement – 14.02.2013
PolyNet expands its network synchronization portfolio into the IP and packet based technology space, supplementing its existing product offering. The new IEEE 1588-2008 PTPM-1 Precision Time Protocol module enables a precise, high performance and maintenance-free frequency, phase and time-of-day synchronization solution for network operators.
PolyNet today announced the availability of its new PTPM-1 Grandmaster card as functional extension module to the PW1008 network synchronization equipment. The module operates as an IEEE 1588-2008 (PTPv2) grandmaster clock over a packet based network connection and provides precise frequency, phase and time of day (ToD) information to telecommunications network elements such us RNC, NodeB, media gateways, routers and servers.
“The telecommunications network operators and service providers are challenged on many fronts to find a common frequency, phase and time reference solutions for their entire network to satisfy the growing consumer demands for time-sensitive services provided trough packet based network, ensuring optimal network performance and high quality services. The new PTPM-1 module meets all these requirements” – said Zoltan Zorkoczy, Managing Director and Founder of PolyNet. The today announced new PTPM-1 module includes a full featured GPS receiver that compatible with the PolyNet’s NTP Server products resulting significant cost savings to the network operators.
The PTPM-1 card can be installed in any existing PW1008 product in a hot-swap manner, but it is also available in standalone desktop version to utilize it in the network as Edge Grandmaster. The system supports wide range of PTP operation modes and is able to serve up to 200 PTP Slaves.
